Our History

In July of 2000, pastors and lay members from English Road Baptist Church, Christ’s Community Church, and Rankin Memorial United Methodist Church met to share ideas for a neighborhood ministry. West End Ministries was incorporated as a North Carolina nonprofit agency on September 12, 2001 and received 501(c)(3) status from the IRS on February 3, 2003. West End Ministries began as a grass roots movement and has grown into a multidimensional outreach program committed to improving the quality of life and providing resources to countless underprivileged citizens in the West End of High Point, NC.

Under the leadership of Executive Director Chris Gillespie, we have intentionally shifted greater energy, time and resources to ensuring that the programs and services we develop support residents in a way that helps them empower themselves to confront and overcome their barriers by making them stakeholders in the betterment of their lives. We believe a community flourishes when partnerships are developed to support the residents of the community to take ownership of their own betterment. Ultimately West End Ministries seeks to serve our community and residents as a resource and support system rather than a crutch.
