Through a collaborative effort of several churches and community partners, High Point's first Winter Women's Shelter opened on the campus of West End Ministries in February 2020. The Women's Winter Shelter was birthed by prayer after the need became apparent. With Leslie's House remaining consistently full, concerned citizens gathered, raised necessary funds, arranged volunteers and operational needs. The Needs List is below as well as the Meal Sign Up link and additional links which includes helpful gift cards. If it is easier, you can designate a gift to the Women's Winter Shelter by clicking here and we will shop on your behalf for meals or needs.
The goal of the Women's Winter Shelter is to offer a safe, warm, loving and helpful place to sleep and receive nutrition, encouragement and case management. The women are given a clean bed, three meals and care. Toiletries and other helpful items are provided as well as referrals.
The Shelter operates yearly, December 1 - April 1 and is open to women, without dependents, ages 18 years of age and older. It offers 20 emergency shelter beds and hope.
During the 2020-2021 winter shelter, we will provide breakfast, lunch and dinner for 25. We humbly ask you to consider signing up to provide meals during December 1 through April 1. —TIP FOR MEAL SIGN UP: Once you're on the sign-up page (link below), scroll down for the blue “From Calendar” tab. Due to COVID, meals are drop-off only, no serving by volunteers. You will drop off meals at the West End Ministries front door (double-glass doors). Click here for meal sign up.

We welcome anything nutritious like soups, salads, casseroles, chili, sandwiches, pasta, vegetables, etc.
Like 2019, we would love to ask you to volunteer at the winter shelter, but, due to COVID restrictions, our staff will likely be the only women entering the shelter with the residents. But, we invite you to pray with us as we serve and love these precious women.
